I’m here to help you work through the sticky parts and lead you to clarity.
The Work
I meet people with anxiety and low mood, and together we work out what is keeping it going – whether that is shame, self-criticism, or rumination.
You may have a clear life change or crisis that brings you here, or something more vague, like a persistent feeling of lostness. Whatever it is, we will make sense of it together.
I work with the international community in Stockholm on cross-cultural challenges: loss of identity, feelings of isolation, language barriers, and the constant questions about 'being in the right place'. I have particular experience supporting adolescents navigating these questions, though I work across ages. Scope & Boundaries I am not a Swedish-legitimerad psykolog or psykoterapeut, and the work I offer is samtalsstöd, not hälso- och sjukvård. I do not provide crisis support. In an emergency, call 112; for urgent mental-health support, Mind Självmordslinjen on 90101 is open 24/7.
Meet Ruth
I'm a native English-speaking talking therapist (samtalsterapeut) based in a garden-oasis on Södermalm. I hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and an MSc in Psychological Therapies, both completed in the UK. I'm a Graduate Member (MBPsS) of the British Psychological Society and a Member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
I spent almost 10 years working in the UK charity sector supporting young people with life transitions and navigating identity. Since moving back to Stockholm, I work with the international community – whether that's teenagers growing up in Stockholm with international parents, young people who have relocated for work, or if you've moved here for love and built a life.
I grew up in Sweden with British roots, and understand the strange in-between-ness of living abroad: the difficulty of loving a place while being far from loved ones, or not quite feeling like yourself in a second language. Often you're not alone in your outlook and experiences, even though it may feel that way.
